How far in advance can I make Rice Crispy Treats?
I need these for a party on the Friday before Halloween (my husband's birthday is Halloween, Sundays are a bad night for parties and he works Saturday nights so Friday is my only option).
I'm going to shape them into tombstones, cover them in thin marshmallow fondant and paint them with Wilton chocolate/candy melts (I've done it before tastes wonderful and looks great!)
Last time I made them the day of because it was on a Saturday and I had off - but I work 9-5 on Fridays and there's no way to do all of this work in a couple of hours before the party.
Obviously I don't want them to go bad...but I'll have to work on them Thursday night at the latest in order to finish all the work between the cake and the treats...anyone know if they'll be gross if I start them on Wed or Thurs? or have any other ideas?
If you keep them sealed up airtight you can make them on Tues, decorate them on Thurs and they'll be great on Friday.
If you want to be 100% sure just whip some up this weekend and see what they're like 2-3-4 days down the road. They're cheap and easy to make so you can afford to experiment with them a bit. Once you've seen how long they store you can take them to work or to the neighbors to get rid of them if you don't want to eat them all.
